Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease (RHDV)is a highly contagious and fatal calicivirus. This deadly virus affects both pet and wild rabbits. RHDV kills quickly, giving little warning. A safe and effective RHDV2 vaccine is available.
I am not an expert at this virus, but wanted to share this site with all of you about it. This virus only affects rabbits, no other animals. It can be transported on other animals or anything really. I did get all of my rabbits vaccinated. I was on the fence about it, but there has been a domestic case reported in Des Moines so I wanted to be safe. My bunnies are in a bunny barn, our cats live in there too. They go in and out quite a bit.
You can find the information here: RHDV Resource Center | House Rabbit Society
Again, I'm not an expert on it. Midland Prairie Vet in Colfax did the vaccinations. If you are interested you can call them they can give you pricing for your rabbits. I probably wouldn't have worried about it if I had just a house bunny who never went outside.
